You Can’t Joke About That! – A Razor-Sharp Comedy

What happens when comedy collides with censorship, corporate control, and the fragile art of laughter? You Can’t Joke About That! is a darkly hilarious one-act play that skewers the modern obsession with “acceptable” humour. Set inside a glitzy game show where comics battle to make contestants laugh without crossing invisible lines, this play is both irreverent satire and biting social commentary.

High-energy format: A parody of reality TV and stand-up competitions.

Relatable themes: Cancel culture, political correctness, and the absurdity of everyday life.

Flexible staging: Works as high-tech spectacle or low-budget satire.

Perfect for university students, community theatre, and edgy troupes looking for a smart, contemporary comedy.

Audiences will meet a parade of comics—awkward, angry, philosophical, and sharp-tongued—each daring to push boundaries while contestants struggle to keep a straight face. Behind the laughs lurks a chilling truth: who decides what’s funny, and what happens when the joke cuts too close to reality?

You Can’t Joke About That! is irreverent, relevant, and unforgettable—a one-act that sparks conversation long after the curtain falls.
