The Gaze by Rainee Skinner – A Poignant Two-Hander About Art, Love, and Perception

Step into the quiet intensity of an art gallery where two strangers—an impassioned young man and a mysterious older woman—collide over a single painting that holds more than meets the eye. The Gaze is a powerful one-act play that explores the transformative nature of art, the complexity of human connection, and the blurred lines between observer and subject.

Ideal for drama festivals, university productions, and intimate theatre settings, this two-hander offers rich emotional depth and philosophical dialogue. As the characters unpack their personal truths through the lens of Gustav’s painting of Ariella, audiences are invited to reflect on love, memory, and the ways we see ourselves in others.

The Gaze is a masterclass in subtle storytelling, offering actors a chance to explore layered characters and directors a canvas for minimalist staging with maximum emotional impact.
